Reverse camera doesn't work after bypassed the DVD system
 

hello every1,

I have a 2007 GS450h with DVD/Navi & back up camea. I wanted to watch DVD while driving (which is not recommended ) so I cut the Yellow wire (parking brake wire) and grounded so the system think the parking is engaged. Next, I cut the Purple wire (video speed sensor) and put the switch here, what it does is when i'm driving the switch cut off the VSS so i can watch movie (navigation is not moving cuz the system think the car is not moving ) and the navigation will working again if I turn the VSS back on with the switch. Everything was working fine until I reversed my car and here....the reverse camera is not working.....so can any1 give me some advice, any suggestions would be appreciated:sad::sad:

Hmm, I wonder if forcing the unit to think the parking brake is engaged makes it think it cannot be driving in reverse?? Easy enough to test that theory -- disconnect the ground to the yellow wire and see if the camera starts working again.

If so, then you could use a 2PDT switch. One pole interrupts the VSS, the other applies the brake ground. Flip the other way, the VSS is reconnected, and the brake ground is off, allowing the camera to work.
