Default '06 GS430 76k miles -- extended warranty?

I have decided to purchase a mint condition, millenium silver/black 2006 GS430 no ML/no nav with 76k for $17k. The car is in great shape with extensive service records--should I purchase an extended warranty for added peace of mind? Also, what do you guys think of the price?

Thanks

The old pre-Direct Injection 4.3 V8 may well be the last truly great engine Lexus made. You might be ok without an extended warranty.

I bought one for $1200 on my 07 350 w 70k miles on it. 0 deductible 3 years 36k miles and covers everything.

$1200 is a lot of money for peace of mind, especially during the holidays. And Lexus engines are made to last, it may be overkill. I'm assuming you're getting your service done at an Independent mechanic not at the stealer.

If this was a European brand, it's a no-brainer to get an extended warranty.

You should be ok...like he said the 430 was pretty much rock solid. The only other thing you have to worry about would be electronics and since you don't have Nav that's one less thing to worry about.

I agree about the engine...but it's all the other stuff that's breaking on these cars....if it provides you peace of mind then do what's best for you...I like not having to worry about repair cost...

I wasnt worried about the motor.. it was all the electronics, relays, buttons and widgets that can cost over 1200 over a 3 year period..

Who did you purchase the warranty through? Is it a Lexus platinum warranty? And if not, is it honored by the dealer? Thanks

It was done with my Lender (Credit Union) its an aftermarket warranty company and Lexus would honor it.. Its not a Lexus Warranty.

Better read the fine print some of those warranties have so many loopholes you are covered for nothing. Some require all maitenance work to be done by certifiEd mrchanic, some don't cover electronics, some will be void if you miss an oil change by one mile past manufacturer mileage. Best to get the warranty at the dealer
