Got this weird vibration I noticed today.

Car is in D. Stopped in place.

Close all windows, and hold the window switches for an extra second.
I hear something in the engine compartment get a little louder, and the car vibrates a little..... until I let go of the window switch.

What is it?

Well If my memory serves correct when you hold the switch to close the windows you are putting a electrical load on the car. The idle will slightly drop, just like when your ac compressor kicks on and off. But there shouldn't be any noises. Check your belts and alternator.

You are putt g a strain on the alternator when you do that. Check the voltage when car is running, with lights on and heat on, to make sure your charging system is in good health.
