Angry GS430 ABS , Brake Lamp on after replace brake pad by myself

2006 GS430 110K miles. Did Front brake pad change by myself. Now ABS , brake warning lamps come on.

Bring it to Lexus dealer. They found 3 code on it. C1203, C1336, C1345

After performed the Zero Point Calibration, the DTC C1345 remains.

I felt so bad. They want to charged me another $185 in order to find out the problem after i have paid $130. But i am our of pocket. So drive car back to home. Wish i could find some help here for my pocket. I don't think i did anything wrong while changing brake pad. Just remove the caliper and push the piston back .

Detail of the Code:

C1203 engine control system communication fault
C1336 zero point calibration Yaw rate sensor undone
C1345 Linear valve offset not learned.

Just follow up here. Problem is fixed. I bring my car to local shop in Fountain valley. Dynamic that everbody recommended here. Thank you! Sun. I am so happy. I though I have to end up with paying thousands on this. But they just fix it for $50. I just went back for Westminster Lexus. I request them for my money back. Their service manager is investigate on this.

Again, thanks all for your help. Eyekutr.

I have no idea how this happen. Even I believe I did this very carefully and in patient. I have done this couple times. Nothing goes wrong. BTW, I am ASE certified on brake and suspension system.

I always disconnect my battery before i do brakes. Does this circumvent this issue?

Not sure if it would. BTW today I went and had my brakes done, new rotors and pads all around at a Brake Masters location and they did not have any issues with the light after the job. Also, I had them flush my fluid while at it.

Only GS430, GS460 and GS450h have the electric brake actuator. GS300 and GS350 have a vacuum booster. If you have an electric brake actuator, and you change brake pads and pump the brake pedal rapidly it may set these DTCs, except for C1203. To avoid this I normally pump the brake pedal slowly.

Ahh I was going to say, I changed pads and discs all round in my GS450h and never had a problem, even did the rears 3 times in a row after having a seized caliper and going from new stock discs to slotted and drilled all round! Each time I always push the brake pedal the first few times very gently and not all the way down, and then in a progressive manner get firmer and firmer until the brakes feel good!

Have you disconnect the battery while doing this?

Nope, never disconnected it once! I wonder if it senses the fluid being pushed back too fast, or when you press the brake pedal to push the pistons back to position, that people are depressing the pedal to the floor and triggering a sensor somewhere! After all, our cars seem to have a sensor for everything so wouldn't surprise me if there's a brake pedal movement sensor or accelerometer perhaps!

Hi...I was wondering if you happen to know what the problem was? I am having the same problem with 06 GS430. If you happen to know who you sent the car to, it to would be helpful.

Thanks,
Dino

this is correct, doing it quick and the sensor tripped. disconnecting the battery is the easiest way, did that on my cars and never a problem. otherwise you just have to do it very slowly (still somewhat risk) or have to end up going somewhere to reset the system
