Battery vs Starter vs Alternator??
I am unable to start the car. Upon depressing the brake and pressing start, I hear a continual clicking noise like the car is trying to start. (multiple clicks) Thought it MIGHT be the battery. Hooked up my other SUV to the GS to try and jump start it (even pressed the gas pedal on the functioning car to give it an extra boost). No luck. The GS engine does not want to start..same continued clicking noise. (Also the brake pedal can not be fully depressed - like it's "locked"..can only be pressed like 20% depth)
Carwise - 2007 GS350 with about 82K thousand miles. I'm confused cause I believe(to the best of my knowledge) I replaced the battery with a Costco one around 10/2011 so it's only been a couple of years...i thought these things were good for at least 3 years +.
Thoughts?
THanks!!

Additional observation:
When I press the brake pedal and hold down the Start button, the clicking noise continues for as long as I hold down the start button - sounds like a poor man's machine gun...
by all indications, the battery seems OK , headlights turn on, lights turn on inside the car...
I don't have a volt meter =(

Sounds like the battery, there are times a battery will be completely fried that even jumping it will not get the car to start. My advice, I would pull the battery out and take it to an auto parts store and have them charge and test the battery.
It can also be a loose battery terminal have you check those?

Sounds like your battery is bad. Pull it and have it checked.

Went to costco and got a free replacement of the battery since it was only 2 years young. Gotta love Costco. They replaced it absolutely free. Just finished installing the new battery and the car started fine! Thanks, ibidu, Paul, Daniel! Now if the car fails in the next few weeks or so, we'll know it's something else.
