Default The best Catbacks for the GS??

I had a 2006 M35 before my 2006 GS and I loved the way the exhaust sounded (stock). I want to put a catback or full exhaust in my car. Can anyone here with pictures and pricing and brand info please post info to help me. I want something with nice chrome mufflers and a nice sound. Thx

Tanabe Medalion, one of the best looking and more on the subdued luxurious exhaust note. Not too loud. You could always add a midpipe to get a more aggressive sound. Those two and a F-Sport intake and I have an exhaust that can be loud when it wants to and also cruise fairly quietly.

Top speed or M2 exhaust. You can get it on ebay for cheap, although not the most quiet exhaust. Some say it "drones" especially situations like when you go up a hill or where the car is riding a gear for a bit too long. But in my opinion, once it breaks in, it has a nice deep tone kind of like the m35. This exhaust tone is probably somewhere in the middle as far as aggressiveness goes. The F sport exhaust based on the videos seems louder, and the tanabe medallion sounds really quiet. I can imagine custom pipe work with borla exhausts are really loud which i think i've seen someone do here on the 3gs forum.

have an 06 gs myself with the tanabe medalion axle back bolted up to invidia midpipes.. love it, even my buddy with a g35 likes the way it sounds more than his stock tone... cant go wrong with that set up

i had the top speed before with the invidia.. didnt like it. way too loud for me but that was with the midpipes as well. also the fitment wasnt so great. right tip stuck out further than the left side. and exhaust hangers were rattling against other metal components underneath the car

The piping of the top speed / m2 def hangs too low. That is one big negative..

I second (third?) the Tanabe Medallion. I bought mine from GotoRacing, a forum sponsor, for as good a price as I could find on Ebay. Definitely a perfect setup for a luxury car!

I went on the Goto Racing site. It's nicely priced. With the mid pipe set up. Does it still have both stock catalytic converters? Or does the mid pip setup not use the stock catalytic converters?

This is a great topic because I was interested in buying a exhaust myself. I was looking at the Tanabe touring medallion and read the reviews and nothing but good comments. Also it looks and sounds great, and not loud at all which is a + for me. But I really want the 5zigen fireball mega exhaust but the exhaust is discontinued for our 3GS =( . But doing some research on CL, I see people do a little bit of customizing to fit the IS350 5igen to our 3GS. Anyone have experience or owned a 5zigen fireball mega exhaust?
