GS450h Subwoofer replacement information
Does anyone know the specs on the sub that comes in an 07 GS450h (neimen marcus edition - dont think that matters)? Its definitely blown and I am told if I get a sub with the same specs I can replace it with a non-oem model (sewell has it for $514!) and its a simple swap with no need for a different amp or anything. I heard I might need to cut out the bottom where the sub goes in (exposing it to trunk) as non-oem are "taller"?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I believe it's 4-ohms.
Go to your trunk, passenger side, there's a panel, take off that panel.... take a 10mm (I believe it's 10mm) unscrew the amplifier off, and underneath it is the diagram to how many ohms your subwoofer is. GL OP!

I saw mention of that a few times - I just worry about the longevity of that fix, sound like a big pain to get at the subwoofer so not sure I want to have to do it annually or anything.
Anyone done this for a while with good luck? I listen to a lot of music with a lot of bass so the sub is pretty important.

You're better off getting a new subwoofer, the OEM ones tend to go out after a few years.... Granted mine's was actually in perfect condition from 2006-2010 or 11, it was beaten on everyday too!
Either way if music is your thing, I would opt for an aftermarket subwoofer along with consideration for aftermarket mids and highs .
I couldn't be happier with my swaps.

Was your OE subwoofer swapped for an aftermarket one, but in the stock location?

No sir, I cut the line and did a hi-lo signal converter to an external amp to a kicker zx750.1 (750w RMS @ 2ohms). The amps powered 2 Sundown SD-2 12's.
I kinda went overkill on my system. I got all new components, coupled with a JL Audio G6600 @100w (RMS) each channel.
Regardless, I don't need to change anything else out now hahaha....
If I were to replace my stock subwoofer, I'd probably opt for a Kicker Comp or Comp VR. As they have very nice bass response in free-air. (it was tested in multiple maxima's with great results @ 8in, and it was a direct drop in for them too!)
