Door mirrors

The easy fix for this is to do what I did I disconnect the car battery. No more buzzing grinding noises. I have a 06 GS 300
I really never use the retractable mirror function. I used it yesterday while pulling my car into a car lift for my mechanic.
That's when it happened and when I started my car the grinding noises starts for 15 seconds. Its embarrassing. So today I unhooked the car battery no more grinding noises. So I hope this helps someone 😁

It's a temp fix. Stupid me press the retract button and now it's grinding again. Too lazy to pop the hood and reset all the windows. I'll do the next time I have the hood up.

You have 2 options.

Option #1: Have your technician disconnect the power to the mirror. You will permanently lose the functionality of the mirror but the grinding noises will cease.

Option #2: Replace the malfunctioning part. It’s the mirror actuator assembly and it’s kinda pricey but you can buy the part for less than the dealership price online. See my earlier post on this thread for the part number. (Post #15)

Somewhat related, mine use to fold/unfold automatically. After a battery change they now don't. Still works manually. Anyone know how to get the auto function back?

The USDM GS do not fold/unfold automatically. There may be a button near the mirror control that says "Auto."
