Default faded wood on top of steering wheels

Has any of you guys expereinced your wood fading on the top your steering wheel. If so, what have you done to correct it. I hae an 06 and I'm sure the sun has ruined it. I've searched the threads and I can't seem to find a solution.

Regards,

Same problem here, if you find a cheap solution aside from replacing steering wheel let me know.

There you go cheap solution

http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-LEXUS-GS350-STEERING-WHEEL-/390550043077?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aee98b9c5&vxp=mtr
Btw I always put paint sealant on my wood grain to help keep it clean and help against scratches.

I friend of mine sanded the steering wheel, varnished it, then brushed a layer of resin

I think the cheapest and easiest way is to find a replacement on car-part.com. In my area they're only $40-$100.

I always thought of doing this, but the resin has to be solid. Some sort of 2k resin/clear that will adhere to the stain.

Why would anyone put "resin" on top of varnish? That doesn't make sense. The factory wheel is stained, then a layer of polyurethane mixed with stain is applied then a final layer of polyurethane. There are likely multiple steps of each.
