Default Vaistech or other aux input for 2006 GS430 with ML/Nav

Hey guys. The search function doesn't seem to be working properly, so I'm having trouble finding an answer. Can someone tell me which model of Vaistech is compatible with an 06 GS430 with ML and Nav. I remember reading a while back that there was an issue, but I don't know whether it was ever resolved. Also, what if I just want an audio input to play ipod music and I don't care about the screen integration? Is there something more simple and less expensive that would allow me to do that? Thanks for the help.

Not a bad idea. How does it sound? I remember back in the day it used to sound like playing music under water. Is the tecnology any better these days?

Did you install it yourself?

Is it possible they don't make that unit anymore? I didn't see it on their web site.

the tape is Stereo, but most adapters are only mono (under water). I'm looking for a good Stereo adapter myself.

I do have the tape and they sound pretty good imo.

Thanks H.

I reviewed the DIY thread and the install looks pretty straightforward. I removed the stereo in my 99 GS4 several times, but I'm really afraid I would break or scratch one of the trim pieces on the 06. Also, I don't love the idea of cutting a notch out of the bottom of the center console to run the wire through there.

I assume a lot of the 3GS owners have this installed. I test drove a different 06 430 before I bought mine and I remember there being what I thought was an i-phone charger coming out of the center console. I'm sure it was this.

I did. Took about 20min. It is on their website....

http://www.vaistech.com/dev/sl2u.php

Now this is just an RCA aux plug for the headphone jack on your ipod, or any cell phone, not a ipod charger style cable... Although you have to buy the 3.5mm Aux-RCA cable seperate. I got mine at radio shack

Is the install for that basically the same as the model that integrates with the screen? In other words, do you have to take apart the center console and pull out the head unit in order to plug it in? Did you consider the sl3i for $50 more?

It would be the same installation, maybe a little different set-up. I did not, I hava an android phone, and they do not have integration for it yet, unless they finished the new model they were working on, but it is for the later year GS when they upgraded the screens.

Yes. It is necessary to remove/replace a connector on the rear of the head unit. This thread has details.

removing the unit is not that hard and honestly you wont scratch anything as you remove the center console trim anyway. its pretty easy, nothing to worry about.

I"m using the iSimple module. Works pretty good for me. I was able to connect a Sirius SCC1 for the SAT. I've been hearing Vaistech has a better interface. Go for it. The head unit is so simple to remove. There are a few vids on youtube.
