Did they put the wrong Brake Callipers on my GS450h?
 

I want to apologize in advance that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to anything under/inside the car. I'm a complete noob in this filed.

So today I brought my GS450h into an independent shop and got it serviced. The car had been squeaking a lot while driving when cold (not from braking), so I was told that it was the brake callipers causing this noise. They told me that they were rusted. Anyways, long story short, they replaced the two rear callipers with "factory"/OEM brake callipers. When I got home, I took a look at them and they are TINY!!! Did they put the wrong callipers on the car or what..? :uh:

After more research, it looks like they put the callipers from a GS300 on my car (which are 2 pistons) while the GS450h are supposed to be using 4 piston callipers like the GS350 or GS460? Am I right?

Thanks! I just want to make sure that I got this right and will give them a call tomorrow, hopefully they don't try and give me some crap or it's supposed to be like this.... This shop hasn't been too reliable with the service on my car. The only reason why I use them is because my family brings their cars there. I'm seriously considering switching... :egads: :mad:

Nope those are the normal calipers for the rear. Lexus would not put a two piston caliper on the rear calipers, the calipers are supposed to be one piston and the front is two piston. Short answer its correct!

PS: When I say two piston and one piston I'm speaking about on side.

Same as my 07GS350AWD.
Except for extra piece I circle it on your picture,
It could have something to do with hybrid braking,

Can anyone confirm unlike the front calipers the rear calipers have a little play when you grab and shake them?

Chuck rear calipers should have a tiny shake that means they are not frozen, fronts won't have them because they work differentaly. OP they put on right rear calipers, our car comes with 4 piston front, 2 piston pistons per side (left and right per caliper) which comes out to be 4. And rear only have 1 big piston. Piston are the circle pieces that push the brake pad onto the rotor and makes the car stop. In the front u have 2 pistons per each side brake pad pushing against the rotor, rear calipers have 1 piston where it pushesh once side and then it has a clamp effect that squeezes the other side of the brake pad. They call the rear calipers "floating calipers" which most are 1 piston. You will be suprised how good and balanced those rear calipers are compared to our front huge calipers.

They put on two new rear calipers couple months ago under EW because they were seized.

Okay thanks for the great answers everyone! Now I feel stupid hahaha I have always thought they were bigger in size from what I remembered from washing my car weekly... I guess I'm imagine things haha.

and under "blueprint"'s post, the picture of the black GS450h with yellow callipers, they look quite large in size from what I can see. I know they are probably not oem but I'm guessing it is the same as the stock/oem (one piston - rear)?

Tckeys those look like 4 piston rear calipers, they are not oem.

Those are the correct rear calipers. I think you looked at his pictures of the front calipers.

The calipers are exactly whats on my 450h, if you need picture reassurance. I can provide....
but those are all correct.

I am trying to figure out people who put 8 pots in front and like 4 in rear, do you guys still have teeth remaining? I mean with the slightest tap on the brake it throws you forward from your seat.

im having some sound from brake.. it sound like glass broking.. once awhile on move from braking first time when driving... after that no more...

what can it be???
