Default Help! gs300 downshifts hard

1) Scanner yielded a faulty solenoid "2" or "B" in tranny; replaced;

2) While that cleared the codes, the car will rattle your teeth with downshifting from 2 to 1;

3) According to Lexus, there is a bulletin on this that states the ecm needs to be replaced. (however, that was years ago and the car is out of warranty)

4) Lexus wants $1,300 for that ecu.

My questions:

Can I buy a used or junkyard ecu and swap it out? My capabilities: I have an up to date snap on solarus scanner; Been wrenching my whole life, but I am a bit of a novice on the programming obd2 stuff....

Can anyone confirm I am on the right track; car has 160k miles and really never given any trouble until now.

Thank You.
Jimmy

What about me? MY transmission going to go out too? How many miles are you suppose to get out of a transmission? What about the guy that has to spend $2000 for the transmission, what if the carbon build up gets him and they won't fix that? that is another $6,000 to do the engine clean dump.

Yes, a used ECM will work. Make sure it comes from a model like yours and you should be fine.

Same problem with me too. Lexus Corporation and Flow Lexus messed up my car.
I am going to get a junkyard tranny today. My gs300 had the carbon emissions recall. Lexus in Winston-Salem fixed it and within a week, my transmission was going bad. It was the smoothest shifting transmission I have every ridden in in my life until they "Fixed it". Now I need a new tranny which they offered to fix it for only $3500. I am buying a junkyard tranny for $1600 and getting it installed for $675. Which is saving several hundred dollars. I don't know how they could get away with this scam. I called and wrote Lexus corporate. They refused to help, because my car had 180K miles. However, if I had never taken it over to Flow Lexus for the recall, it would never have quit. They messed up my car that I was fully expecting about 400 -500K miles. All of my previous Toyotas have gotten at least 20 years or 300K before they basically fell apart. My car was setup by Lexus corp, then damaged in the dealership. I will never have them touch another car of mine in this lifetime.

Seems Lexus has its fair share of transmission failures on all GS and IS models.. My transmission has been downshifting hard as well. Trans has been flushed with Toyota Fluid and Engine checks out..
My last Lexus, guaranteed.. I can live with any high mileage car issue, but not engine and/or transmission.
