E-Brake doesn't work???

Just got a used 06' GS300 with 60k. Noticed that e-brake doesn't hold the car when I engage it, any advice...

Might just need an parking brake adjustment

Mine was like that, only you had to really press it to the floor to get any kind of bite but it eventually did. I got a general brake service done (things like removing and cleaning/lubricating all parts) and I was pleasantly surprised that they adjusted the parking brake too and it is good and tight now.

Pretty sure it's a simple procedure that could be DIY'd by a dummy but I never cared enough about it to really research it.

Do you guys set it every time? My dad got me in the habit of setting it every time when I was a kid and it stuck with me through the years. Good for the transmission and engine mounts, because it puts the pressure on the brakes, not the drive train. Brakes are much easier/cheaper to replace. :D

Yes, every time.
Takes strain off the Parking pawl in the transmission, and like old fashioned hand brakes, is a wire, so will need inspected and tensioned as it stretches with usage.

Lately my parking brake makes a squealing sound when the pedal is engaged.
Do you guys have a same experience?

I had a same problem. Had to press hard to the floor. But don't have to now.
Parking brake is self adjusted?
