Default Just got my first lexus

Just picked up a 2007 GS350, 61K. Just had a few basic question about which i'm not too sure about.
1. Type of gas? I'm assuming it needs premium and im ok to put that in, but the lady at the lexus dealership told me it wasn't a big deal, and they put in regular all the time. I thought that was sketchy

2. The navigation. How do i go about updating the maps. Do i need to buy some cd to update it? What would be the cheapest way to go about this.

3. Since i purchased it from the lexus dealership, what things should i ask them? like was premium gas always used with this car? What type of oil was used? When was the last time the spark plugs etc... were changed?

Please let me know, I would really appreciate all your help. I apologize if my questions are dumb, but just thought it's better to ask, then to get screwed!

congrats on your new car and welcome to clublexus

1) you can put regular, computer will retard timing and you lose on power and gas mileage. so yes, you can, but no, i don't recommend

2) yes you need to buy updated dvd map and update. sewell lexus is the way to go, vendor here and good discount

3) they wouldn't know what gas was used, nothing is keeping track on stuff like that. they can pull all service records on the car as long as they were performed at dealership

Thanks buddy, I appreciate your input. I'll definitely stick with the premium. Anyone have any other advice before I pick up the car today? Can anyone answer my question about the spark plugs etc...
Also what do you guys think about getting an extended warranty from lexus? Is it worth it?

Hello, and welcome to Club Lexus!

To add to rominl's comment about regular gas, the loss of fuel economy while using regular will likely cost more than the cost difference between premium and regular fuel. So, stick with premium.

Regarding the plugs, highly doubt they were replaced since the recommended replacement interval is over 100k miles.

GL! Post photos when you pick it up!

Cool

cttc1, I would stick with what the owners manual says. Shame on that sales rep that told you that, probably just trying to make the sale. Updating the dvd map can be pretty expensive. I have a generation 5 system on my 08 and I just bought the update disc ver. 11.1 on ebay for $150
