Unless you can absolutely prove it (the burden is entirely on you) or the semi truck driver openly admits it, don't count on the insurance company paying for the damages. They will likely say it's a "road hazard" and deny your claim. I would suggest you file with your insurance company and let them try and subrogate back against the other insurance carrier.

this is correct once its on the road its considered road debris and not the fault of the truck driver that just put it there. the only time this isnt true is if it doesnt hit the ground first.

this happened to me on my is250. cracking my front gfx lip, 1 fog lamp, slight bend in 1 rim, scuffed side skirts. also hit one of the O2 sensors near the cat. was running fine till a couple days after. one of the wires on the O2 sensors was bare and started to make contact with a heat shield. made my car run on "limp mode" as my mechanic friend mentioned. be sure to check that area out. make sure the rims are not bent, if you ran over it pretty hard.

Thats exactly what i'm doing. Since its a large trucking company, my insurance said they'll probably just pay out of pocket to avoid conflicts. Depending on how much i get for the incident i might go with a jobs front end. I cant really find many other ones i like.

Thought I'd add to this thread, a runaway tire hit me on the 5 fwy. Completely bent my rim in and ruined my front fender. I'm just glad I was in my beater car and not the GS.

ugh... this just happened to me two days ago. Hit a piece of a tire on the freeway. No time to swerve. The impact broke the mounting tabs on my bumper AND fog light. Luckily the light is still intact and functional but I cant mount it. Looks like its time to get creative..
