Default noob question

how do you drive without the parking lights on ? Just got my 06 gs300 about 2 weeks ago & for the life of me cant figure out how to drive with all the lights off. No matter what i do the parking lights are always on whether i have the lights in auto/off....even in auto during the day the lights are on am i doing something wrong ?

their suppose to stay on. im sure if you splice some wires, you can get them to turn off.

I guess you're talking about the DRLs... you cannot turn them off without convincing a dealership to do so and depending on where the car is registered it may be law that DRLs are installed and operating.

oh ok they are supposed to be on.....i was just confused about it because a black gs (dont know which model) rode past yesterday with them off & i thought i was doing something wrong....

im guessing drl= daytime running lights.......makes sense now

Every car made since around 1996 has had them... it's not some kind of new GS related thing.

I think all cars built domestically are required to have them effective 1996. What you do after the sale is between you and chance.

I will say that if you disconnect the lights and you are at fault in an accident, insurance company can deny your claim (if the absence of the lights contributed to the accident)..

^^^ what? You don t "disconnect" them you go into the customization settings with the computer and toggle the option to have them on or off there are many cars out there that don t have drl.

It depends where you live. It's a dealer option because it varies especially down in the states where every crazy state in the country has it's own set of completely different laws.

In Canada, DRLs are required on every car. It doesn't matter where it was made, only when. You can potentially be pulled over and given a fix it ticket if there aren't any working front lights on during the day and a car certainly shouldn't pass safety inspection whenever a vehicle changes hands without them.

I'm just saying figure out the law where your car is registered before you disable any lights.

DRLs are very easy to switch on/ off, go to the dealer or any technician who has Intellegent Tester form toyota, he can do it within two min

yeah it varies from state to state like I heard that in va hids are illegal

^ after market HID are illegal. As far as I know all OEM HID are legal.
