I'm trying to understand how the unit is supposed to work in my car and nothing is making sense. I have an '07 GS350 w/Nav and ML and it was already installed when I bought the car and I have no idea which model it is. The first time I hooked up my iPhone 4, I got the white screen on it and I could only control it through the factory radio. To me, that tells me that it is not in simple mode. Recently though, when I connect my iPhone 4, the screen does not go white and I can control the iPhone through the radio and the iPhone. This tells me that it's in simple mode,right? I pressed the scan button 8 times and it says simple mode. Here is a pic:





How do I get it out of simple mode?

 

press rpt for 8 times, make sure it's within 1-2 sec (need to be very fast). that's the only way to get out of simple mode and go back into the normal mode

 

Will it say something other than simple mode on that screen that I took the picture of?

 

when you are out of simple mode, it won't say simple mode on the screen anymore. and assume previously the emulation is done correctly at mp3 mode (you able to see all the folders, song titles, album names, etc...), it will go back to that mode and information display
