Love the styling, hate the creaks, love the speed, hate lighting, love the ML system, overall wouldn't pick a different car! Hope that helps a little, and most IS parts work with the GS parts.

Love the car as a whole. I have done a bunch of small little mods to make it my own (chrome door locks on the inside, graphite seat trim on black leather, leather lined ash tray replacement for sunglasses, IS Shift ****, VAIS Tech, LED Bulbs, etc). That's what's great, you can find lots of things to change the car up.

I had most of the creaks taken out, but you do still hear plastic rubbing at most times. It's the only real thing that drives me crazy, but I am very particular.

Get a certified CLS 550 (AMG 63 if you can afford it). If I had the money, the Lexus would be gone. This should tell you that I have not found anything better for the price also.

The GS is a good car but not $50K good.

I know I will get **** for this post but it is how I really feel.

^^ I was( am) in the market for a new car. I considered the CLS550, the BMW 650, and the BMW 550i.. I even made a poll here as what to get. I joined BMW forums, and holy batman, the majority have maintenance issues, which are NOT cheap.. That made my mind up to get the GS, still looking for a 3 GS though.
I would like to say that if i had bottomless pockets, and the time to keep up with the MB or BMW, I would, as they are awesome machines too.. Do't get me wrong Lexus are awesme, that's why I'm getting one.

LIKE IT, LOVE IT, GOTTA HAVE IT!!!!!! I have had very few issues and none that Lexus didn t take care of. All cars will have their quirks and knock on wood mine have been far and few bettween! Most German cars have over the top, over thought features, that tend to malfunction and without a maintenance package will cost you stacks. My Lexus is sophisticated yet simple to use and built to be efficient, reliable, comfortable, and so quiet inside that you can hear the dash creak if you drive in total silence. Bottom line is I plan on keeping mine until the wheels fall off lol!!!

Well I think even today, with the same budget (50k), I would still pick the 3GS.

Like: styling (subjective, I know), power to fuel economy ratio, nav, reliability, AWD, Lexus service, and price (compared to comparably equipped 5 or E).

Hate: trunk size, opening, lighting, and interior lighting, and lack of aftermarket parts for serious power.

I think the GS is a great car and who pays full sticker for it anyways? The only thing I hate is the trunk space, way too small. Drives smooth, handles alright, it's quiet, and has some power to it. Overall fun car to drive.

How much are you looking to spend?

I just bought my GS a few weeks ago. Used 2006 GS300 60k miles with Nav/ML. I love the body style... looks great with the staggered rims. I dont really care for the plastic creaking, but I can't complain since its a used car. I wanted a nice car with decent gas mileage that's why I went with the 300 instead of the 350. 32.1 mpg coming from Houston to Austin.. roughly 2.5 hour trip.... not too shabby. I like the interior of the M35 a little better than the GS, but the exterior is superior IMO. I also like the fact there are soooo many different aftermarket parts for the GS.

I like my GS to the degree that I want a new one, but can't get one with my non-negotiable specs(has to be smoky granite mica w/grey). My salesperson has been on notice to find one for months. I was at the dlr to have the valve springs recall accomplished and, ironically I got it back the day of the earthquake/tsunami. I ws told at that time I now may have my '07 for years to come. They didn't have one GS on display or available.

I love my GS but I agree about the price. If you are getting a good deal than do it. I also agree with 808LexGS about the trunk space. I was actually shopping for a new car with more cargo room but everything I test drove I didn't like.

I can spend up to $35-$40k. I have found some that I like around town. If I was willing to trade in my IS I would get the Infiniti M but I love my IS and I can't let her go. Looking for a GS that is gray with black interior. Only mods will be rims and tint. It will be my grown up toy.

Dang, you could get a good gently used 08' GS450h for that kind of money.

I own an 07 GS450h and really like it. I get dash squeaks very rarely (mainly when driving on very bumpy roads or when the weather gets below 20 degrees outside which almost never happens in Arizona).

The performance on the GS450h is pretty insane from a roll. Check this link out:
