Default Out of the blue a $500 debit card

Just got a debt card for $500 from PNC Bank saying it a $500 Loyalty Card from Lexus. Is this a sham ? If you go to the site to activate they want your Social Security Number. I usually run away from that. Has anybody else gotten this card and is it for real ?

I've been waiting for this card for a while.

Is it a Visa/MC Prepaid you can use anywhere, or is it only valid at Lexus dealers?

Also when did you do your valve spring recall?

According to the letter in that link, it says it's good towards parts and services at your Lexus dealer.

Watch, parts and service price will hike up soon

I hate giving out my SS# for stupid things like this. They should do like the credit card, activate it by calling from your home phone.

Got mine in the mail yesterday.

It's a Visa branded Gift Card so you can use it anywhere Visa is accepted.

You don't need to give out your SS# to activate the card. Just the number off the card and the expiration date on the card.

That doesn't make sense since it's a Visa Gift Card and it can be used anywhere.

How much was your purchase at Best Buy? If it was over $500 the person checking you out should have run the card for only the dollar amount on the card then the remaining balance with a different tender type.

If its visa prepaid you can use it anywhere. This is great. Now I will just pay for my ML Plus at the dealer using my Amex, and then recover the money by spending the Lexus gift card on other day to day purchases.
