I don't think there is any distinction between an SSC and a "recall" they are both termed campaigns. I am curious, though, how some of your cars have gone so long without that steering rack done.

Is it possible to not have the rack replaced and still have no outstanding campaigns showing up on your car online?

my understainding was that an SSC in initiated by the manufacturer before investigated by NTSB (but people will still say recall for to save time), and an official recall is directed by an outside safety source. but , who knows.

Anyway. My P/S light came on today without all the other nonsence lights mentioned in the Check Engine light and VSC thread. It is at the dealership right now to figure it out. Hopefully the extended warranty I bought in Feb covers whatever is wrong.

UPDATE: Dealership had the car for three two days. The lights never came on when they re-started the car. The only abnormality were a few stored CAN-BUS codes. There is some lack of communication going on between computer units. The lead tech said most likely the steering ECU or one other. This also explains the variety of idiot lights I get from time to time that really didn't make sence. . . . unitl now. Each light I got has some connection to the electric steering. As far as they can tell, the steering ECU is going. But they don't want to swap it out and charge me $1000 until they know for sure. I have to bring the car in with the idiot lights on so they can catch any CAN-BUS codes in real time. I did that the other night but it was 6:45pm, the mechanics were closing up and the valet shut the car off before a mechanic was instructed to pull the codes before the engine was shut off.

I guess now, it is just a waiting game, but I least I know there is a possible cause and solution.

Sadly, my extended warranty does not cover steering components.

how do ya'll like the lexus german car experience?

you can't call it a luxury if you don't have the luxury of leaving the car at the shop all the time.

What kind of extended warranty do you have? Im sure the one I got will cover it if anything was to happen.

check the fine print again.

these extended warranties often exclude a ton of stuff.

One day I was talking with a service tech who told me the 06's seem to have a lot more issues than usual for a Lexus.
Even with that, try owning a Benz, Audi, Jag or Bimmer with 63K miles. You'd be pulling out your hair. So far, my 06 has been fine. It makes more noises, has more flutters and feels different than the 07 but it's been fine. For peace of mind, I bought the extended warranty for it.

Debating about extended warranty for the 07. It's been great and has only 36K miles on it. No car is perfect but I'll take a Lexus over other brands any day.

keep in mind dealerships OVER-charge the daylights out of you. At my dealer, private owned dealer, i can get it done for a FEW hundred.

2006 what? GS300? 350? 430?

Very few recalls on the 430.

There is no 2006 gs350, they are all reffering to gs300.
