Default Has anyone installed DVD screens in OEM headrests?

I don't want to change the headrests, is it possible to install DVD screens in the factory headrests? Maximum size screen, if it's possible?

All opinions and suggestions welcome, thanks!

not to be mean but I think it makes the car look ghetto, since they replace the head rest with some cheap leather so I would probably get a portable DVD player just my personal view.

if you do a custom job, it will not look cheap. the thing i hate most about dvd headrest is the fact you see the whole perimeter frame of the screen and buttons as opposed to just an lcd screen where the material is wrapped right up to the edge of the screen.

+1 looks ghetto...period. i have buddies who have worked at stereo shops and even when it's done clean, the fact that there's a TV screen in the headrest is plain ghetto. IMO: screens belong up front or drop down from the roof and even the roof screens look like crap sometimes unless its in in a SUV

That's why I asked if it's been done in the OEM headrests. I'm not replacing the headrests with the generic headrests these things come with. If it can't be done with class, I won't do it. No big deal, just trying to see if it was possible.

Thanks

i am never a big fan of drop down, i never think that's the right location. look at the rses on new rx and gx460 (as well as the 7 series, etc...), i think they are cool

regarding factory headrest, i won't put much faith. it's size, shape, and contours make it pretty hard to fit any decent size screens nicely

I have a gs460 that has them installed oem as a lexus option,in the factory headrests, they look cool really, each one has its own dvd built in,or you can select inputs and they play whatever is playing on the front screen,If you dont have kids there isnt much need for it

buying two ipads with the head rest adapter/case is cheaper and more functional IMO.

Curious to see the pics as well. RSES is not an option (from the factory) on the 3rd gen GS.

My wife has the 2010 RX with RSES...I actually like how they did that and that may be the only way to do it in the GS as well.

Car is at the shop under a work now,Ill try and post pics later,I wasnt sure it was a lexus option, but I went on ebay and auto trader and looked at a ton of gs460s and found 2 others that have the same tvs in the headrests,so i assume its a rare option, prolly only available in the 460 id guess

Well-said and I completely agree. Really odd-shaped HRs to accomplish
