Default Battery problem?

I have a 2008 GS350.
I have now encountered a problem with my battery.
If I leave the car standing for more than 2/3 minutes with the lights on the battery goes dead and I get the dreaded clicking when I try and start the engine.

Is that normal?

Is my battery covered under Lexus Warranty?

Hope someone can help

Does sound like a battery issue + 3 years is about right for battery to die (they can go longer if you don't let it die or jump start too many cars). This is assume before that 2-3 mins you did a nice 5 to 10mins drive.

my guess is dealer will give you 10% off of their expensive price. shop around and U can get a better deal but careful some place do charge for installation and dispose your old battery. These two charge should be free but now a day ppl r trying to make $.

You get one free battery replacement under warranty. That replaced battery is then covered by a parts warranty for another year.

As long as your car is under warranty, you should get free battery.

I'm sure you mean basic warranty and not powertrain, right?

Batteries SHOULD last far longer than 3 years.

My cousin drives a 2000 Sienna with the original factory battery. That's like 12 years now.
Voodoo magic? I don't know...

so does that mean I could just walk into the dealership and tell them I want a new battery before my warranty expires?

Like with all warranty claims, they are triggered by a part failure. They will only issue a new battery if your old one is faulty. Dealers have equipment to test battery performance.

i would say have the dealer reset your lights to go off after 30 seconds not 2 minutes. im sure that drains a bit of the battery. you could also just switch the lights off yourself.

i had the exact same problem on my 06...

dreaded click after 2-3min of lights or radio being on
every startup, the needles would dim on and off and u could hear the engine struggling to start

i got lucky as i was ready to purchase a Duralast gold battery at autozone for $99, my buddy had his yellowtop optima and sold it to me for $50
