Parking Sensor Replacement

Is there a DIY guide for front parking sensor replacement? I've searched the forum and can't find it but I recall seeing one a while back.

I don't think any one has done it yet.

Given that these sensors fail so often, I would have thought someone replaced it themselves already. My front sensors have failed once about 2 years ago and rear once when it was still under warranty and it was replaced. Now it's not working again and I am not about to pay $$$ to the dealership to get it fixed again as they will break again in 2 years. Can any of the lexus tech on this forum help? Is there a way to diagnose which of the front 2 sensor is not working?

Thanks,
Mike

I'd think you should be able to easily tell which one isn't working by having someone just walk around the car in a circle. The ones that are working should not detect them when they aren't in front of them, and should detect them when they are in front of them.

You have to put the system into "static" mode so that it detects things around it even when the car isn't not moving - I think...

is this what the "P" button is on the left pop down controls? i just purchased my car CPO and I've pushed the button a few times but nothing happens. Unfortunately, my manual has not arrived yet.

Yes, the parking sensor function button is an icon of a P with some radio waves going towards a pylon.

When you press it, on the cluster a similar icon lights up to let you know that the system is engaged. I believe it is ON when engaged and off when not. This is the opposite of the AFS where the button turns it off, and when it's off the cluster icon is lit and when it's on, it's not.

I have had good luck with my system (knocking on wood), and haven't had any issues with any of my sensors yet. I do not do a lot of highway driving though and when I do I leave lots of space. I imagine flying stones on the highway hitting them may be the #1 cause of premature parking sensor death.

I cant tell which one because we only have a left, front, and right warning indicator in the car and the front have 2 sensors so I'm not sure which is defective. I guess I can switch both front to the side and see which side is not working or is there a better way? By the way, the sensors are $168 after club lexus discount. This can get expensive if they fail so often.

You can also leave the car on and in gear and the sensors will go off; D for front ones, R for rear to test them with a friend.

if its a cpo it should be covered just bring it to the dealership and they will find it for you and fix it.

are parking sensors covered by the CPO? a month in and my car started beeping at a traffic light about me checking sonar. The multi display shows front, the LCD/nav screen shows a big red fail sign in front of the car.
