My friend who works at an insurance company stated that if you are filing a claim through your insurance company, the value of your car will be based off of the car stock. Unless you upgraded your parts (which nobody usually does) you will get some money back. You will most likely be free to replace the aftermarket parts with stock parts if they total your car.

If its the other guys fault, you can try to get them to pay for your upgrades, but most likely they will try to give you the stock car value.

Your car will be totaled, I am willing to bet on it. Start looking for a replacement, and meanwhile get a comparable rental, don't settle for a Ford Focus.

Was hit by another driver in 2005. Have State Farm and they stated at the time for a car to be considered as totaled the damage would have to exceed 50% of the assessed value of the car. Do not know if that still applies, but it seems your total may meet or exceed that price. Be aware State Farm changed their policy a couple of years ago where they have the option of using non-oem parts for repairs, which would bring the repair cost down somewhat.

sorry to hear about your accident, and glad to hear you are OK. definitely go with the 450h; you can transfer all your current GS mods over to the GSh.

Definitely the illuminated door plates, the console tray and the mats, but the k&n air filter is probably gone, and the sways will likely go with the car too.

Still waiting on any indication at all that it will be a total loss. I haven't heard from the body shop or any of the 3 insurance adjusters that will look at it. I'm hoping that I'll hear something today, or at least by Monday. I hate that next week is a holiday week and there probably won't be much movement going on, in terms of getting a check to me, if it is indeed totalled.

I'm definitely staying with Lexus....no doubt about it. That car protected me so well, that I was able to walk away with just minor facial burns from the airbags. I'm definitely a little sore today, but nothing worse than after a day of lifting weights...I'm used to the feeling.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Let's hope the insurance company doesn't touch me over. Is it bad that all three involved in this wreck had State Farm (different agents)?
