New mod - I'm getting a Tanabe Exhaust
 

I'm on vacation back home in Hawaii to celebrate my birthday and to visit family for 2 weeks and my girlfriend surprised me with the Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust for my bday, which I have wanted after thorough research on this forum and having my 2010 GS 350 for a almost 3 months now.

I thought she would get me something more on the lines of a watch or golf clubs or surfboard but what do you know, an EXHAUST!! I guess she finally noticed how I spent my evenings searching on the Club Lexus forums.

I can't wait to get back to So Cal to have the exhaust installed and see how it looks along with the sound, which I've heard isn't too loud compared with the stock exhaust. 89 vs 93 db which isn't much. I knew that I def did not want the droning or something too loud but have the looks aesthetically.

I will def post some pics when I get back to LA and get the exhaust installed.

Not sure is 89 vs 93 db is accurate or not. When I had mine, it was definitely louder than a 4 db difference. Dunno, I'm no sound meter though but just saying.

And, if you don't want droning, you'll be in for a surprise because the Tanabe is notorious for droning.

How are you getting it back from the 808 to the mainland?

I'm surprised you can hear the Tanabe that much in side the GS. Mine isnt that loud with 2 pipes all the way to the back.

Well I'm not too sure on the 89 db for the stock exhaust but this is just coming from what I've read. But the decibel scale does increase exponentially so a 4 db difference can be quite a bit when it's going from 89 - 93.

The reason I'm getting the Tanabe was that I've heard that it drone....does anyone else have opinions on this?

I don't have the exhaust with me here in HI, my gf just gave me a pic of it and said it's ordered and should be there by the time I get back.

I got back to LA last Sunday and was busy during the week with work, but I finally got the Tanabe installed y'day. I'm loving the sound and look of it.

That black matte finish on the emblems goes really well with the Starfire pearl. Did you do the emblem on the grill too?

Has anyone seen or have pics of a Lexus with matte paint? I was just curious what our cars looked like with that. Personally, of the pics of cars with matte paint I've seen, it looks pretty neat, but I prefer the glossy shine with the traditional paint jobs.

Thanks KingTX, I didn't do the emblem grill but I'm thinking of doing the chrome surrounding around the grill along with the emblem, maybe.

I used to like matte black cars but it's getting so played out and I also prefer the glossy shine with regular paint jobs.

exhausts are looking good, congrats.

congrats buddy. I had the same exhaust on my ride but sold it after a year and a half because the droning was getting annoying to me. I miss it sometimes but usually I like the fact that the car looks amazing but I dont need to hear it

Johnnyk1, your best bet would be prob online. I got this exhaust as a gift from my gf and her good friend owns a shop so she got it from him.
