Default Autofolding Mirrors?

can this or cant this be programmed by the dealer? I hate the fact that I gotta manually do this and I hate that you must have the car in accessory mode to accomplish this. many times i shut the car off and am opening the door and Im like - "OH Crap, I forgot to fold the mirrors"

you must be living in a super crowded area then. i think in ny or sf some areas are like that, but in majority areas that i can think of, park spaces should be relatively ok (at least you can find them), so you don't have to fold the mirrors.

even for our ls460l sometimes i think it's not necessary. imho there is a resaon why auto fold mirror is sooooo standard in asian countries (even on cars like corolla)

Even so..this has to be one of the easier electrical mods to achieve. A couple of connections and two relays at the most. I'd give it a shot if I had a GS and plan to when I do but I was hoping that someone would care enough about doing this to get it done. I don't even live in a crowded area (Atlanta); I'm just used to it on the LS and think that it's cool and added protection from those idiots out there who won't think twice about damaging your mirror.

I fold them becuase I dont like large hipped people taking cheap shots at my poor mirrors in the mall parking lot (you know what Im talkin about)

Trust me, I test drove two mercedes before we bought the GS350. I test drove the C350 Sport and the E550. Neither had the nice interior feel of the lexus. they were impressive, but felt cramped for a 40-60K car(s).

I can live without the auto-fold, but it would have been nice. I think we can wire in some sort of relay that fires and activates that circuit when let say the tach or cluster loses power?

GL. I mentioned that I wanted this about a year ago. They still didn't add it. Pretty sad when American trucks has this feature.

My LS has it and I love it... wish the GS had it too! Let's see if somebody figures it out!

it should be relativly easy to do for electrician since fold switch is in accessible space but i wonder if everyone will go through all trouble for that...

You just need a relay to activate the fold switch based on power to the vehicle. the switch wiring is accessible in the dash pod.

ignition on = relay turns on activates switch to open mirror.
ignition off = relay turns on activates switch to close mirror.

I would love to get an electrical wiring diagram for this car, like I have for my Supra and IS300.
