Default Install navigation system on 2006 GS300

I have a 2006 GS300 with no navigation system and I want to install a factory navigation system from another 2006 GS300 to mine. Is it possible? I saw several listings on Ebay selling the navigation display unit, cd changers, etc. I just want to double check if this is an easy swap.

Thanks,

you need more than just the unit. you'll need all the wiring and the navi ecu that goes in the glovebox

yeah the nav unit in glove box, all the harness, it's not worth it

why not just use iphone or so and feed the video/audio to head unit?

Look into the Vais SL2iC. There are little details about how iPod Out works but I am going to hazard a guess that you could use an iPhone GPS with this and basically get full touch screen GPS integration on the car using this method.

BUT after the cost of SL2iC and the cost of getting a IOS4 iPhone, it's probably just as well you stick a Garmin on the windshield. I am not an iPhone guy, I have an Android phone, so I don't know but unless there is an iPhone GPS app that keeps all the maps on the device and doesn't require a data connection then you are also looking at all those nasty data fees.

Personally I wish there was an equivalent product for Android as Google Navigation is mega awesome.

to get iphone gps, you don't really need the sl2ic. you can just use sl2vi and iphone with gps. the new interface on ios4 won't help much on the gps interface.

a member already posted a thread on his setup with sl2vi and his iphone and i think it's very sweet. of course, you have do gps controls on the iphone, but at least it feeds everything to the factory screen

You do not need a data connection. A lot of the apps by Navigon, TomTom and Magellan are all stored locally. You can even use an iPod Touch, but you would have to buy an external bluetooth GPS (since Touch has no GPS) for less than $50. But, if you have an iPhone with a data connection, you can stream internet radio and still retain steering wheel controls with it too. More versatile than Android IMO.
