Default TPMS solution?

Ok, first off, when I bought rims I totally forgot about the TPMS option. I just put rims on my 08 AWD 350. Low and behold the TPMS light went on. After much searching on CL threads, it sounds as if there is no real bypass for this lovely Lexus option (other than having the senors mounted in the new rims).

I did in fact see a bypass on the Tundra forums (don't ask how I ended up there - thanks Google!). It seems there is a wire you can cut and ground in your dash. Question is, has anyone else heard or done this mod to their Lexus? I realize the wires will not be the same color, but its from the same manufacturer (more or less) so it may be worth looking into? I plan on looking through some wiring diagrams and see if I can find this so called wire...

Oh, if anyone wanted to check out the Tundra mod thread on this.

Why not spend the money and get a 2nd set of TPMS? You can get 4 of them shipped for ~ $100 brand new. You just have to pay to install, assuming your rims are TPMS compatible, and program.

i understand that his new wheels are not TPMS.

Another solution is drill a canister for the 4 tpms and pump it to 35psi and throw it in the trunk. there is a diy online to do this somewhere.

ok i had to go try this and it did not work on my 06 gs300. I hope I did the right box and wire. The box is on top of the radio and said pressure sensor. I grounded the pink wire on both sides after i cut it and then together and nothing happened. I guess im gonna go get my sensors reprogramed.

Pass, where can you get them for $100 shipped? I'm ok with spending the cash, everywhere else I see is at least $50/sensor + shipping. I just thought there may be an easier way...

I have an 06 gs also, went with the status wheels too. Tire shop cant get the TPS to work with the valve stem hole size. Going to a custom wheel specialist tomorrow. Hope that works. Did you have trouble?
