what is the fair price for 2006 GS 300
#16
Truth is, there's actually very little markup on cars, even at sticker there's less markup in a $50,000 lexus than in a $50,000 rolex.

This is how you figure what car dealerships buy their cars for:
Do a nada search for a car with no options, trade in price then deduct $1500 for all the fees.
For example, here's what nada priced a 2006 lexus gs300 awd in the zipcode of 84115 with 51,000 miles:
Pricing
Rough
Trade-In Average
Trade-In Clean
Trade-In Clean
Retail
Base Price $18,000 $20,100 $21,850 $25,900
Mileage: 51,000 $775 $775 $775 $775
TOTAL PRICE $18,775 $20,875 $22,625 $26,675*
* This Retail price is based on a clean vehicle history report . Don't make a $26,675 mistake.
So you minus $1,500 from $18,775 and you get the price of $17,225 which is also the dealer bought the car for

No, you post what the car is and I'll get you an accurate idea
Let's take a 51k mile 06 GS300 AWD.
The book that dealers actually use to appraise cars in my neck of the woods (NY City area) is Galves. (galves.com if you're wondering).
Galves puts a 51k mile Navi 06 GS300 at $19,825 Trade-In, without Navi it's $18,925.
Now that's just a guide, so a quick look at auction results in the northeast shows them doing in and around the $20,500 mark with similar miles. Some will do $18k because they're banged up, some will do a tad more.
So say I'm a Lexus dealer and I buy one at the auction for $20,500.
$20,500 car
$300 Auction fees
$150 to ship the car from central PA up to Jersey.
$1,000 to get the car through the shop
$1,000 (IIRC) to Certify it.
$26,995 OBO on the lot, I'd want to get a solid $25,500 for it at least.

I have 06 GS(basic model) coming to end of lease in Sept 1st...
I have 62,000miles on it and it's going to be $19K to purchase... so I'm thinking about buying. If I could get some extra discount.

All that matters in the price is mileage.
You';ll have to be the one who does your own inspection and background check. Options mean nothing. NOTHING.
I bought a 2006 GS430 in summer of 2008 for 31k. There was no price different between one that was loaded up and one that was not. I hardly makes a difference in a used car.

If you have 62k on it now, $19k is on the high side of wholesale on the west coast.. car's probably closer to $18k without Navi. Problem is, LFS won't negotiate on residuals with lessees, once the car is grounded they will, after an inspection, offer the car to the dealer at a market price, which is sometimes above and sometimes below residual. However we're not allowed to sell the car to the customers at any price other than residual.
In September... I'd figure the car $16/17 so $19k? Might wanna pass....

On a GS, Lack of a Moonroof will murder the car, (2nd Gen GSs were available with cloth and no roof, I remember seeing one do $17,500 at auction back in the day when cars like it with roof and leather were doing $22K+) Navi adds, in the wholesale world, about a grand or so. ML adds $5-600 technically but to be honest, it's pretty much with or without Navi.

Assuming a RWD Nav/Lev in a good color wholesale is going to be $19-20k. If it was yours, on a private sale I'd say take $23k, if it's certified, expect to pay $25k max for it. There's enough GS350s around with similar miles for $27-28k FWIW.

The 20s and DVD player add very little to a GS on the resale market, assuming the car is at a dealership. Personally, as a dealer, I'd be swapping it out for stock rims, people that want mods on these are in the minority.
