Default IPAD install

Hi sorry if this is late but I thought it was cool

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSnIX...layer_embedded

I think I will try this on my gs300 when the 3g version comes out, if the install is at a right price.

So you think it is worth it?

actual ipad installed at 4:45

Nice.

It would make more sense to put a 3G version in there though. Unless you get a mobile hot spot device.

didn't watch the entire video, but do they still have the oem screen display for the oem controls? replacing the oem screen with an iPad is cool, but only if you retain the functionality of the oem functions....

i think they basically throw out the factory nav unit (unless i missed anything)

to me that's more like a show built than practicality anyway

according to the video the guy said he just put it in the car to make it function normally as a regular ipad, but will put the other stuff like make it work with the cars speakers and buttons later.

i have a 06 so the navigation is outdated, so if i can get this installed then it will def be a good upgrade,

but i will talk to the custom car shop in hackensack to see if they can do something with it.

It'll be nice, but you won't have HVAC and bluetooth controls.

It's a nice find, but not sure I would butcher up my ML nav for an iPad.

It has a dock connector. I'm sure it would work seamlessly into the audio system via iPod adapter like the ones offered by Vaistech.

I don't see how it would fit in a GS. It would be cool if they could incorporate all the controls into the operating system and somehow make it fit.

It won't work in GS. In the video the car is a Toyota where the nav screen is purely nav and audio. In the GS the existing touchscreen also controls climate, bluetooth and system settings. I don't see how you can migrate these to the ipad.
