Extended warranty 07 GS350!!! QUESTION!!

Hi member
I have a question about extended warranty for my GS350. I have a 47xxx miles right now and my warranty is about go to end really soon. So I went to the Lexus Dealer in San Diego (Kearny Mesa) and the financial department person told me that I can get a upgrade to 6 yrs / 100k for $1950. Is it reasonable price?

i remmember it being 7 years and 100k miles. But yea that price is awesome usually they charge around 3.2 or more. I got quoted 3.4 from lex dealer get it for half price.

if its a lexus warranty then yeah thats a great deal cause mine costed me $2,900 for 6years 100k, so thats a great deal.

I'd just bank the money.

personally i probably won't pay that kind of money. when we got our gs350, i think they offered 7yr/100k (or 6yr i forgot) for like 1600 or 1700?

question first though, 6yr/100k, are they talking about another 6 yrs from now, or 6yr total? if it's 6yrs total, then you are basically paying 2k for another 3yrs of warranty

That's a terrible price! According to the following Web site, the "sticker" price for this warranty with zero deductible is $2,025:

I will post a bit later information about two places where you can buy deeply discounted Lexus Extra Care policies.

Follow up:

I just got quotes for GS450h (not same price as GS350) from two places that are supposed to be cheapest.

1. Troy Dietrich from
Toyota of Greenfield
1 Main Street
Greenfield, MA 01301
Phone - (413) 772-0231 (Dealership)
Phone - (413) 772-0989 (My direct line).
Fax - (413) 774-2247

The quote for 6 yr/70K miles zero deductible was $1,120, or about $700 below the list price shown on the Web site I quoted in the previous post.

2. Midwest Superstore at Hutchinson Kansas. $1,500 for the same policy, which is clearly not great, but at least it's $300 below list.

Like the dude said above, call Troy.

I wouldn't pay 1-cent over 1500, and even then - the dealer is making over 100% profit.

The guy above who quoted $1,120 - that's a reasonable price.

Seeing/hearing about someone pay over 1.5k for a 'Lexus' extended warranty brings tears to my eyes. Kind of like blowing pepper in my eyes.

It's great that you're researching this.

6 yrs total, but for me driving around I already put 47k within 2 years so I go by the miles instead of years. So 6 yr / 100k for 1950 is reasonable for me over all I researched through.

See my posts above. Again, that is a TERRIBLE price because you're paying the list price for this policy whereas you could be getting a $700 discount.

Can I get a extended warranty over the phone?

YES (email actually)! Troy is the biggest seller of Lexus Extra Care out there. I'm buying my policy from him. I previously bought VW extended warranty from him for my parents' Passat.

Troy only sells the manufacturers' warranty contracts. Not third-party ones.

call troy. I got an 8 yr 125k mile warranty for 2800 but the 100k was for 1700. Way cheaper than the dealership.

I just don't have faith about Toyota factory (dealer) extended warranty due to past experiences. Maybe Lexus is different, or better than Toyota? (Lexus is part of Toyota, isn't it?)

My local Toyota dealer did not honor whatsoever the problems under the extended warranty because I purchased the car and original warranty from the other dealer. Every time I brought the car in for a warranty related service they always came up with bogus reasons so the problems were not covered by the warranty... hehe, who knows if they made a claim to Toyota behind the door after I paid for the service out my pocket...

So for me even one penny is a waste to purchase the extended warranty from Toyota. But if you are comfortable with paying $2K for the warranty, go for it, sometimes buying a peaceful mind itself worth the $.
