Default What tires are u running on ur stock wheels?

hum, couldn't find any simliar thread, so i'm opening up a new one.

Q: What tires are u running on ur stock wheels? (plz, no after market wheels. thx)
i got 08 GS350 RWD with 18" optional wheels, and came with Yokohama ADVAN A10F 245/40R18 93Y.
i love those tires until i found out it cost $400 per tire.

my tires are dead because bad wheel alignment, and it was too late to fix it.
i have to get a new set of tires, but i couldn't find what else is good...

I had Michellin MXV4 195/65R15 on my 01 accord. (MSRP $165)
good tires, okay traction, and it last pretty long (die on me at 65k).
Bridgestone- maybe it was the worse series from bridgestone, (i forget the model, size: 205/60R17, die on me at 40k, MSRP $220)
i had it on my solara and i hate it!
the tires had NO TRACTION on the wet floor, even though it says traction A.
i switch tires on my solara to Yokohama ADVAN S4.
love it, alittle bit loud but acceptable, had the best traction of all the tires i used b4. but very very short life (die on me at 35k, MSRP $185)
the best of all, the stock tires on my gs...
don't wanan spend that much money to buy the same tires, cause i feel it's unnecessary luxury. (i'll buy it when i have nothing else to buy for my car)
i'm putting Michellin Pilot Sport PS2 on my car now. (est. life, 35k, MSRP $300)
it has higher rating (Z-rated) and higher traction. (AAA instead of A)

i'll return here and post how i feel about this tire after 500 miles.

so, plz write some comment about the tires that u r using now, and do u recommend others to buy? and the most important thing, the COST!

for easier reading and comparison, plz use this template

My '06 GS300 was upgraded with factory 18" wheels when it was purchased new. I put a set of 18" Kumho Platinum LX's all around this past June. I am thrilled with their price and performance. Paid about $180 per tire (including mounting and balancing).

Spring to Fall:
245/40ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on 18" Lexus G-Spyder rims. (nb: Enkei actually makes the G-Spyders for Toyota)
Winter:
225/5VR17 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 on 17" stock GS rims.

I also have the 18 inch optional wheels on my GS300 AWD. I have the Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires and I love them. They will defintely last 60k miles as stated by Michelin. They are smooth and very strong tires. I use them all year round and they are a slightly larger thickness tire than the standard one but it does not matter much. Size is 245/45/18.

Same as "steviej" ... Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on G-Spyder in the summer and Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 on stock in the winter.

Continental ContiProContact 245/40R18 97H on GS430. Very quiet and the ride is good. No problems in the rain but than the road was excellent so didn't really put these tires to the test.

I'm getting new tires. I'm ordering the ContiExtremeContact DWS
245/40ZR18 93Y BSW.

Name/Model/Size: Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Offical Trac/Temp: 220AA
Traction on dry/wet/snow: AA / A / Unkown
Tread life: 30k on it, still have 40% left
Noise: Noticeable noise
Price per tire: $266 + installation + tax
Recommend: Yes
Comment:
everything is cool until you drive it in the rain. there is a noticeable loss of traction and slow down in turning response during rain, but not severe enough to make me feel it is a hazard to use that tire during a raining time. (I had Bridgestone tire before. the car would NOT TURN even u turn the steering wheel more than 30degrees. i felt i was driving a boat. and that's what i meant by hazardous tires.)

I still have 40% on the tires, but i need to replace it soon, because there is a bubble on 1 of the tires already. so i guess the reliability on this tire is not very good, and remember to buy insurance if u put this tire on the car.

no info about snow traction.

i'm thinking to switch back to yokohama this time. i'll keep posting.

I also have the optional 18" wheels. Whatever you do, DO NOT get the Goodyear Eagle F1's. I hear extremely loud road noise with them. They do however provide really good grip.

I have stock 17" wheels with worn Falken Ziex 912 tires . In about 10 days, I will be purchasing
Cooper CS4 tires V rated as W is not available in that 225/50/17 size. I read good things about them and my Lexus service advisor Said Cooper makes a great product.
They have a 520 A A rating. 60000 mile warranty. Cost, about 800 including mounting, balance and, nitrogen.
not sure about the pressure sensors.
