Not sure what clunk noise you guys are talking about but when I use to put car on reverse it was making a loud thumping noise when gear was changing, reason for this was I was not pushing in the parking brake all the way.... You might want to push the parking brake in all the way and always put the car in reverse before releasing the parking brake. Let me know what happens
