Got the check on Saturday. Full amount, no conditions. Still amazed.

In the meantime, I was thinking about having them re-paint the rear bumper so that the lower lip (black) is the same color as the rest of the body (silver). I noticed Lexus made this change in '08, and I like it better. I think it makes the rear look a little lower, too.

I had a similar issue on my '08 G37... I used a local car wash because I had inadvertantly parked under a tree and was saturated with...well... the usual substances. I figured a quick $8 run through would allow me to save the paint until I could wash the car myself... needless to say, the wheel brushes GOUGED the two right wheels. It was nothiing but a fight from the Chevron station, and the car only had 2500miles at the time. They wanted to repair the wheels, even though the finish wasn't the only problem - the actual metal had large SLICES and TEARS - no way to repair it without it being noticeable. I ultimately got paid, but not before waiting a month and having to sign a document that said I would return the damaged wheels to them....

Basically, I had to pay for the new wheels first (risky) and then return the damaged wheels to pick up the check... ridiculous.

at least they paid you for the damages, i had my car "detailed" today, just to pick it up with 6-7 deep chips in the passenger side door. manager came out and asked me to tell him how it could have happened. who cares how it happened, it happened! i cleaned out my car from that side of my car this morning, and i definitely would have noticed them as they are all in one area. they wouldnt do a thing about it.

That almost looks like surface scratches on the clear coat that could be buffed out. Have you taken it to a detailer to see if he can buff it out with his highspeed buffer with some compounds? I personally had a few look like this and was able to buff them out.

Sorry about the damage, hope all gets fixed. Certainly a good reminder as to why I never use automatic car washes. Fortunately not far from where I live is a good independent hand wash place.

No, they are through the paint.

It's been at the local Lexus dealership for 5 days now. Should be out tomorrow or Friday. I was also having them paint the bottom lip of the rear bumper cover from black to silver (body-color).

RX loaner is fine, but can't wait to get my baby back.
