Default Restoring Pillars

I just peeled off my chrome pillars and now need to figure out how to resurface them. A lot of scratch fine scratch marks on them. How can I restore it? Wet sand paper with super fine grit? How fine should I go?? Maybe that’s why the previous owner put them on.. dang it. Still like it better w/o out it.
