Default DIY Front Bumper Replacement

My front bumper recently got scrapped through the paint. Instead of refinishing it, I'm planning to install the newer 2008+ style bumper cover. From what I understand, all I need is the front bumper cover, upper radiator grill and a lower grill. Has anyone ever done this before? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like everyone does this the other way around (install 06-07 style to their 08+) to install lips, so I'm assuming that it can be easily done to accommodate the newer style too. Unfortunately, I can't find a DIY anywhere (even for a mere bumper removal). I've already done extensive searches here as well as google. Anyone want to shed some light? I'm assuming I would just have to remove the clips at the top and the fender wells and that's it.

I'm already getting ripped off by ordering these parts at the dealership, so I'd rather do this myself.

don't order the parts at the dealership and get ripped off.

go through mylexparts.com and get a discount. or at least compare the price.

bumper is only like $350

do it and keep us updated ! please !

yeah all you need is the bumper, grill chrome, and grille.

worst case scenario- you're missing a few screws and have to order some more.
but at least you still have your old bumper in the mean time.

I plan to update my 07 bumper too if i ever scratch it up

mylexparts.com has diagrams of the parts you need. just match them up and see which ones you're missing.

grille $194
chrome $137
bumper $290
lower grille $47
total $668 + shipping + paint.

Thanks, what is #5 in the first diagram though? It's listed as the grille molding. It looks like something I might need also. Anyone know if I do?

Thanks everyone. One more quick question. The emblem is identical right? Read somewhere that it might be slightly bigger on the 08.

if you can remove your current emblem, go to the dealership and compare the size.

that might be one thing that stays the same

Just an update. I got a quote at the body shop. So far, they quoted me $1474 to have it done including paint and labor.

The parts I requested are:
Front bumper cover
Upper Grille
Lower Grille
Grille molding

Anything else, no matter how trivial? Like some sort of obscure bracket that's not identical that would inhibit me from mounting the bumper. I don't want to bring my car in and they say I need new fasteners or worse yet, fog lights or something like that.

Yeah, labor to remove and install is roughly about $250. It's a rip, but I'll just pay it to avoid stressing out about how to transport it if I do do it myself.

Its easy to install it yourself. I would have someone paint it for cash as a side job. That is crazy!

$250 that's it?

then the paint is a rip off then.

$725 for parts & ship
250 for labor

that means paint is $500 for the bumper.

shouldn't a bumper cost no more than $200 to paint? This is like the easiest thing in the world to paint. And since it's a pearl paint, that should be easier to match than mica color, i'm guessing.

you can transport the bumper on top of your car, wrapped, protected, and tied down.

Paint labor was like 200, paint itself is little less than 200 too. Parts about 800. Total price already has tax included.

The price I can accept for its convenience. Just worried about items I may be missing.
