very true though about professionals not knowing as much as we give them credit. A lot of times the professionals tell you the wrong stuff. I'm going to roll with 36-38 psi.

 

Keep in mind, your tire pressure is directly related to the load rating. The greater the psi the higher the load rating and vice versa.

I've spoken with him about this and he's said that if you hit a bump large enough to damage your wheel, having an extra 2 psi in your tire isn't going to make a bit of difference.

 

true, that goes without saying. you hit anything large enough, it will damage any wheel, even oem wheels. if you hit something small, that extra 2 psi may be the difference between a small bent in the rim or being ok.

 

I cant believe that people are using and recommending low pressures with 30 profile tires. The shops in Phoenix I have been to always recommend 45. I ususally run 44psi. I havent had any dents, get better mpg, and better tire wear ( especially when dropped). There is no reason to be running a dropped car on 30 profile tires at pressure n the 30's. what a joke. I run mine at 42 i usually run my pressure to the max on most of my wheels gotta love cali pot holes..

 

It's not "low" pressure. The psi you're running would be considered exceptionally high.

He's running nearly 10psi over what is suppose to be near the maximum pressure. If that's not considered high, what would you consider to be high? I would say anything between 35-40 is good. 44 is too high.

 

BMW and Audi recommand 40 PSI in their low profile tires, 44 PSI is on the high side, but its not too high, but if Lexus tells you to put in 32 PSI on a 30 series tire, thats too low.

 

I wasn't so much going by what Lexus said, but by what the wheel man said. He said between 33-35. We could agree that 33 may be on the low side, but I would argue that 35 would be sufficient.

 

If 33 - 35 PSI works for you, then by all means, go with that.

 

On the tire it tells you a MAX psi you can set it to....

 

that doesn't mean anything about what's a good psi to put in
