Default More Rattles

So now that the cold weather is ending and the horrible dashboard rattles are starting to go away, I’m now noticing that the sun roof has a rattle to it when its partly open. What I mean is when its pointed up, but not fully opened (the right button to open , not the left). When I’m driving with it open I hear this annoying rattle to it that I presume is the same rattle others have complained about. I didn’t use to notice this at all so I’m not sure if its new or not.

I also wonder, am I now just hearing every little sound the car makes because I’m just unhappy with this Lexus? Has anyone else experienced this…. Where now whenever they drive they analyze every little rattle and become more and more sad with their GS purchase?

Is there a way to fix this rattle? I gave up on the dashboard rattles so I’m guessing no. What it looks like to me is they for some reason decided to build this car with cheap plastic parts.

sunroof rattles are common in any car.

do a trial/error, and stick some foam in it to see where the rattle is.

and the dashboard rattles- some guy on here sprayed some 3M wet silicone lube, and claims the rattles are gone.
the lube is cheap. like $8 a can.

lastly, if you hate your car so much, you should trade it for an mercedes
keep switching car brands until you find one that doesn't rattle.

Bozer, I feel your pain. My old GS had the same issues. I had my dash board rattle fix twice and most of the rattle were gone form the dash, but not all. I was happy with the GS once again. Until the weather warm up, my sun roof started to rattle, even when close. The door panel was rattling next, then it started rattling on top of my door and the drop down control panel area. It seems like my GS has a difference set of rattles for winter, summer and spring. Like Donnojack said, either put up with it or sell it, because as soon as you fix a rattle in the GS, two more will show up.

True, You'll be cool crusing in your new MB with a cup of latte...Just be carefull not to spill it in the center console otherwise you'll need to call the tow truck driver...an easy $500-800 fix....LOL

Hey don't shoot the messenger "dunnojack"

I've never spent this money on a car before and this is the first car to ever have rattles. Didn't happen in my Accord, didn't happen in my Chevy Malibu. Am I wrong to be annoyed by this? If it was possible I'd give it back and ask for a refund.

I love the look, I love a lot of the features, but I can't stand the cheap sounds I'm hearing out of it. It's incredibly annoying and obviously its not just me with this problem -- I think everyone has it.

it's not as easy as it was 10 years ago.

it didn't happen in your old accord, but now hondas and acuras both rattle. a lot.

and that's why i believe fussing over rattles is not worth the headache.

if you go on bmw and mbz forums, there's always some guy with a rattle somewhere.
so, rattles can happen to anyone.

what can you do.....

Yeah =(

Sory if I sounded like a douche I'm just frustrated dunnojack!

I guess I didn't expect this to happen. I bet you if I never visited these forums and got the rattles idea in my head I wouldn't even be thinking about it. =(

I paid like 47K and I'll be paying that for a long time. I've learned a few things from this purchase.

1. I'll never finance again. I prefer leasing. If I had leased, I could be done with this car now and onto something else.

2. Research! Next time I'll be on the forums of the car in question looking for posts like mine. I basically bought the GS because of how it looked and had zero knowledge about dash rattles, break squeals, things like that

I'm sure theres more.

I love the car on a warm summer day after getting it washed. It looks gorgeous at night. Its just when its a cloudy day, the car is dirty and I'm hearing rattles.. it starts to really **** me off. Nothings perfect I know...

Sure Honda, Acura, BMW or MB can have rattles, but not in more than 50% of their cars like the GS.

I'd rather have rattles for 3 months than worry about electrical or mechanical problems the whole year.
