'06 GS430 ipod integration: What's everyone using?
Is this what everyone is using to hook up their ipod?
Vais Tech- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...5fInstallation What about these other options? USA Spec- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...5fInstallation Peripheral- (Lose sat radio) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...fAudioQ5fVideo Dice- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus...fAudioQ5fVideo Grom- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...5fInstallation Has anyone tried any of these other options? If so what was your experience? |
VAISTech SL2Vi for me.
I know someone has USA Spec here. Not sure about the other ones though. I *think* so far that VAISTech is the only one that allows video integration from the iPod. |

I just noticed the ad at the top of the screen. Is vais tech a CL sponsor? Do we get discounts? How do you like yours? Any complaints? How much was the install? |
vaistech for me, love it
|
Question - If one wanted to get the Ipod unit and the sirirus unit from Vaistech, would he be unable to? Like, can I only have one of them?I'm not sure if the dashboard can handle it
|
dashboard, you mean the spacing behind? if so, then that's last of your worry. if done right, there are quite some space behind the head unit
but connection wise whether it's possible, you should talk to vaistech |
another option. wish i'd gotten this for 4Gen 06. it's much more like the ipod emulation you get with Gen5 Vais.
http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1476 re both ipod and sirius. sat tuner usually goes in the trunk with lead wire to head unit. that's whats takes most of the install time. if you have built in sat "ready" head unit then you don't lose anything. ipod will show up as cd changer or mp3 depending on year and model but you retain those original inputs too. |
I have the 07GS350. But in Hawaii (at least back then) you had to order the DVD/ML system but you didn't get the navigation. What can I use in my car? Do I have to have navigation for these intergrated system?
|
I'm using Peripheral. Not that satisfied as navigating seems to be difficult and track info on display is not complete. As long as you are the type of person who just leaves the ipod mode in random and knows all the titles, it should be fine. Otherwise, you'll probably be better off with the others. But, hey, at least it sounds good.

I too have a 2006 GS430 and have thought about this upgrade but I am very confused right now with the info that I can find. First I do not know what gen my NAV is as far as if it is MP3 compatable or not. I have the factory ML dvd system. Also from what I can figure out is the best Vais unit that will work on my car is the Vais SL2i. My unit will not support the SL2Vi-P4.
Can anyone chime in and define how you can tell your Gen of your NAV? I would like to get the most bang for my buc and order the right unit. |

http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1476 I have the VAIS SL2i, and the lack of browsing capability is a bit of a downer. |
Thanks for the answer Drpepper!!!!!
I just ordered the SL2i-up from the GB that was offered! Just got in there before they got to kill the Promo code! That is ending. It still works for anyone else that is late like me!!!:woot: |
We opted for the unsophisticated route and went to the Apple store and bought a cassette adaptor for use with my iPhone. We mostly use it on trips where we just go through the song list so we don't have to poke around on the screen.
|
I just ordered the Vaistech SL2s (receiver) and SC-C1 (I think that’s just what’s needed to connect to my sharkfin) and also used the group buy.
Going with Sirirus for some Howard Stern lovin' Still need to find someone to install for me if anyone knows anyone in NYC area that is cheap and good please point me |
