yep. mine was broken into. they pried open the cover on the driver's side door lock and forced something into the manual key slot. This lowered all the windows and opened the moonroof. I didn't have the alarm engaged, I will in the future. still need to get it fixed

i am surprised. lexus security systems i believe don't have shock sensors. if so, then how can breaking windows trigger the alarm? i believe it's only triggered if the car is armed and then someone try to unlock the door or try to start the car, etc...

virtually all factory alarms lack a shock sensor of any sort. they're primarily designed to go off if the door/hood is opened and if any tampering is done to the starter/electrical system. a good clifford or a prestige w/some extra bells & whistles would set you straight. of course nothing's 100% foolproof, going the extra mile to deter a thief is a worthy investment.

Nope, but the old fashioned flat screwdriver is most common on the Older ES300, because the window has no frame.

The older fashioned "Brick" takes a lot less finesse and also gives more room to work. As times get worse, things will get worse. Think like a criminal, "go for the fancy, expensive ones". Leave nothing in your Lexus!

Kinda scary because I park my car outside sometimes when I'm at home because the garage is taken up so it's making me paranoid now. YIKES!

You can't stop a smash and grab, the crook will have taken what he wants within seconds. But if a thief wants your car, you can thwart him; it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend to prevent it.

very true. my previous car was broken into via the old smash and grab, luckly i do a good job installing my monitors and ps2 that he didnt even realize they were there so atleast he didnt get everything.

my gs was almost stolen by trying the old screwdriver in the pillar method. ended in a fail but if they want it bad enough they will get it. ive seen people have their cars stolen by being towed away. that happened to a member on here a few months back.
