Default 2006-2008 TPMS change?

Have the wheel sensors changed? I bought a set of tire sensors for my aftermarket wheels at Lexus. They work fine. However, if I trade-in my car for an 07 or 08 will the sensors work? I read somewhere that the system might have changed on some Lexus models from 06-08?

The 06 TMPS is different from the 07-08 version. So if you're looking to transfer your 06 TPMS to a newer model, it wont work.

Damn that sucks! That means I would have to buy another set of sensors for my aftermarket wheels. Do you know if the newer sensors are somewhat the same?

I asked Tire Rack and spoke with a Lexus parts/technicians guy. Tire Rack said it shouldn't be a problem. The Lexus guys said that the TPMS wheel sensor part number did change from the early 2006 GS until after made before June 2007. However, they indicated that it shouldn't be a problem either.

Did you call your local Lexus service or parts department for clarification? I would trust them first before Tire Rack.

Actually, they have production changes. There are PRE and POST productions for some reason. It depends on the month/year that the car was produced. I think it was mid way 2006 production they switched over. I remember my cuz talking about it because I was trying to pick up a second set for my car, that and I read it somewhere as well.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life....but hey, no one can get mad at me for not using the search feature!

Anyways, I need a set of TPMS sensors for my 2006 GS300. From what I've read so far, it appears that the the TPMS sensors from the pre april 2006 models will work fine for the post april 2006 - 2008 or so....

However, does anyone know if I can use the post april 2006 sensors on my pre april 2006 GS 300? My car was manufactured in 10/2005.

I certainly hope so that way I can just buy a used set on eBay.
