yes.

You have to grab a remote wire from somewhere, I used the cigarette lighter then added a fuse inline.

well you need to run a good in line converter off the factory sub, don't use the onboard in line converter on the rockford...I used to have that amp it's a beast!!!

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=+li....c0.m270.l1313

I use a monster cable one, but ebay didn't give me any results for monster....this is a pretty important part of the system so if you get a cheap one you'll regret it.

I wouldn't mount that rockford against the carpet OR upside down it will get too hot, you should either mount it in the passenger side well opposite the sub or on the back of the seat or build a legit amp rack for it.....you really don't want a carpet fire in the trunk caused by mounting the amp upside down lol

yeah this amp is old they tend to get really hot. but i got all my ohms setup perfectly so this particular amp doesnt burn up. though it does get warm.i had a few 800.2 that used to burn your hand.lol.ill figure out where to mount it.shouldnt be hard at all. but since you say i need a good converter.where can i find one?

Have a look at my sig which explains how to add an outboard amp for the Sub. No need for a LOC if you buy the right amp.

I have a dwg I made of the ML amp pinout for my 2006 GS in my albums- it may be hard to view because I had to make it small to upload it- hope it helps those who may need it!

I did complete surgery on mine and took the output of ML amp into a DSP then out to 3 separate amps. With a set of Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers for fronts and Hertz HSK for rear- it blows away the ML system by a huge margin! Don't need any surround sound here! 8-)
Cheers!

CsKWarEd

Thanks for this write up, I used this to add a sub to my 07' GS350 (non-ML).

I just wanted to add some additional info when I installed my sub.

1. for some reason the Mitchell wiring diagrams I had showed different colors from what my car had for the stock sub wiring, I tried looking at 06' and 08' same colors. After hooking up my amp n sub, it had almost no output. After putting a A-cell battery to my stock sub, I found out that the (blue/white) is (+/-) I assumed the darker wire was the (-). After fixing this it worked fine.

2. I also found someplace in the forums, that there's a gray wire connected to the stock amp (about 24ga) that is live when the accessory relay is live. I used this for my remote.

My setup up consists of:

500 w Boston Acoustics mono sub amp
BA 12" DV small enclosure sub, setup in 2 ohm config.
2 farad capacitor
Sound Ordinance 1 cu ft sealed enclosure, which has an angled back and fits almost perfect against the the back seat and takes up only half of the nook behind the rear seat.

I like the results I got, not a lot of space taken up and spent about $300 with all the wiring, etc.

Default Lexus 3GS Subwoofer, Amplifier & LOC Installation Video

Great write up on your installation of the custom enclosure

Here's a How-to tutorial for newbies doing a sub and amp install in their third generation GS. I also used a fuse for my remote wire signal in my video guide. This video is the perfect complement to your photo guide.

PLEASE can anyone point me in the right direction to get a sub box similar to the old 4080 or possibly a slim sub box that has good dimensions for our gs450h or 350!
Thanks!!!

any reputable car audio shop can make a similar 4080 box style built to sub specifications… we have a lot here in sac. you just have to drive around and find the best and trust worthy shop. the one here charges 450 and made out of carbon fiber… so its light and can be removed if needed.
