I personally love it, the way it looks and the cool stuff inside. Of course none of us knows how it drives (it's been getting some rave reviews tho), but on looks alone I would choose XF.

I've always been a fan of Jaguar designs, and this new XF is no exception. It does have a little GS design traits, but in my own design bias, I think the Jag looks better.

Well I've done more reading on it and its a mixed bag for me.
1. Its still based on the OLD S-type, which was based on the LS/Ford Thunderbird. Not a bad thing but not great either.
2. Carryover powertrains. We just had to put up with Lexus doing this with the GS 430, why is Jag doing the same? The 420hp engine is nice but will cost around 65k.
3. Looks. If I want a car to look like the GS, I will just buy a GS. The front is odd and the beltline very high. The concept was much better. The best part is the swoopy rear with Aston Martin tails.
4. Interior has cool features, ambient lighting, pop up controls, closing vents. It still leaves me cold in pics, must see in person.
5. Shaky image. Jaguar might go under, it hasn't made money as a company in over 10 years. I am a huge Jag fan but that just smells of failure.
6. Size. The car is 195 inches long, as big as the last gen LS 430. Its a big car.

Now on the other hand, it is different, it will be more "special" as it will be sold in smaller quantities. However, it just leaves me so-so on paper. I will have to drive and feel to make a final opinion.

Default Yes....that is what kept me from buying it...FORD

It is still a FORD.... Same thing with the Range Rover... On that note, I do love Toyota (I had three 4Runners), but they need to keep the Lexus features Lexus and Toyota features Toyota... (headlights on my GS look like Camrys etc)

Pardon me, but that's a silly argument. Volvo is Ford too; and so is Mazda. Those companies, just like Range Rover and Jaguar have remained mostly independent companies, for better or worse. There's lots of reasons to like and dislike Jaguars, but being owned by Ford is quite irrelevant.

Default Yes and No....

Jaguar and Land Rover have always had horrible repair records, so there is no way to figure out if it has gotten better or worse. I can say that JEEP used to be bullet proof and ever since Chrysler bought them out they have gone downhill fast.... That I can prove.

Default Actually the pricing on the Jag

starts at $49k and the Supercharged is $63... I paid $54 ($4k off) for my GS460 so $9k difference isn't worth it... Now off to the Superbowl party...

GS460, the engine in the XF has been carried over for ages.

Actually the last 2 years of the S-type received good reliability ratings....having said that, Lexus has received Awesome if not world leading reliability ratings since its inception.

LEXUS FTW!!!

Ford also recently dumped Land Rover.
WOrst in Reliability over all.
I love the looks of the RRSS, but I won't bring myself to buying it b/c of the relaibility issues.
Pathetic.

As for the Jag, I have looked at the new one, but it will still have similar reliability issues as most other Fords.

There is just a different mind set when purchaasing a Toyota/Lexus.
You JUST KNOW it will be reliable and last forever.
WIth other manufac... I have never felt the same way.
