Illuminated Door Sill Plates - Lexus.com

I'm floored at the notion that these would be so difficult to wire. These are leds for crying out loud.
Why would you not simply tap into the wire under the sill that supplies power to the courtesy lights in the doors?

You have to tap into the wire for the dome light. Here's the catch, the color of the wires that come on the sills don't match the color of wires you tap into. Even better, the color of wire you tap into on the driver side is different on the passenger side. It's trial and error.
I'm not an electrician, nor do I claim to be, therefore I leave it to people that know what they're doing. In my case, that may have been a mistake, however they worked as they should and they were covered under the warranty.

Did anyone ever come up with the correct wires?
I just got these illuminated door sills from a dealer in N. Miami and installed them on my 07 GS 350. They look great, BUT they only light up when the car is running, which tells me I tapped into the wrong wire. I also wonder are they on all the time? I want them to come on anytime the door is opened. But with like 20-30 wires to tap into, I couldn't tell what is what. Does anyone know DEFINITIVELY which wire (which color for Passenger and Driver's side) goes to the dome light?

Are these the USA or Japan version? Meaning do all four light up or just front doors? The lights should come on when you open each door and go off when you close them. Easy way to check is to depress the rubber button inside the door frame. Make sure you also have the dome light set to turn on when each door is opened.
If you got the USA version, there are detailed instructions on this forum or also on Sewellparts.com.

Read those instructions. Violet and black on drivers side and red and black on passenger side. However you need to know which pin since multiple wires of the same color.

Lighted Door Sills
Is there anyone who could help point me in the direction of lighted door sills for a 1997 LS400? Perhaps you know of someone who purchased them, never installed them and would like to sell them. I would very much appreciate it! - Musickat

all you have to do is add a magnetic pin swich on each door no drilling it has a battery which last 4 years then wire to 12volts it will only come on when the door is open, you can find the slim line switches on ebay

I am thinking of buying the lighted sill plates also. So can you tell me if it's plug and play or will I have to splice wires? Since its a lexus I presume there may be a plug ready?
