Has anyone had any success doing the DVD/Bluetooth mod on a 2008??? If so, is there any differences?

I would guess there would be no change in procedure or wiring since there is no change in nav system at all....go for it and report any changes in wiring if you dont see the wires as they should be

In email from prestigioussociety.com they said that 2008 plug and play kit hadnt been tested - if the wires were exactly the same there should be no need to test

hi all, I'm new here. just got my 08 gs300 a few weeks ago and i've still only got 2000K on the odo.

i was wondering about this mod. so this mod involves bypassing the speed sensor correct? does this affect the trip information at all? the most critical bit of info for me would be the cruising range. would it still be accurate?

^^^ This may very well be a loose connection in the back of the units.....

I successfully did this mod tonight on a 2008 gs350. The first time it took me about 2 hours to get everything apart and put back together but it didn't work. It was because I cut the wrong purple wire. There were 2 purple wires on the harness but cut the wrong one because I thought there was only one. After I got the right one connected everything works perfectly. The only tip I can think of other than what was mentioned here is when pulling the unit out use a towel or something to grab the 2 metal tabs at the bottom so you can pull harder and not cut your hands. It makes it much easier to pull out.

The one question I had was does anyone have a wiring diagram to lookup what the other purple wire does. I am just curious.

Default new 06 gs 300 awd owner/need help

I just got a 2006 GS 300 AWD w/nav and back up camera, and heres what I WANT to do:

-add a stand alone dvd player to view movies thru factory nav screen unless there is a hack to use the nav dvd for video.

-unlock the unit so video can play while in motion as well as nav, BT,(without cutting wires)

-use my ipod thru the factory unit with a vais technology adaptor (unless it a less expensive equal quality piece)

Im in the chicago area if anyone nearby has experience with this

BTW, What is a hybrid dvd? Ive been seeing that pop up alot.

Please Advise

Check out the link EyeKutr posted 5 posts above yours. It dicusses the R-Spec unit which will play DVDs (assuming you have the ML audio) and take care of the bluetooth and nav limitations while driving. As to the Ipod, you can get the VAIS or Carson Toyota (a sponsor) posted a little bit ago about a Lexus and Apple approved iPod adaptor that will incorporate into your existing system and be placed in your glove box. This is the one I want. Both the R-spec unit and the iPod will have to be installed by a professional unless you are very handy (which I am not).

I just finished doing my navi/BT/dvd hack, everything seems to be working but i don't have a switch yet. If I only have the OEM sport switch I could figure out the circuitry in the switch and make it look just like OEM. for now the 2 wires that go to the switched are connected, but that will be fixed once I find the proper switch.
