Default GS300 Handling

Hey, my parents are big time Lexus Lovers.. So all they have bought are Lexus vehicles. My mom got an 06 gs300 a while ago and has now passed it on to me... Its got about 35K miles on it and is in great condition.. I love the car... except for some lil quirks.. The car is pretty stable at slow speeds in turns and has a great turning radius.. But as far a freeway handling.. it has a floaty feel to it and fells like its totally detached from the road.. Is there anyway this can be resolved... Would dropping the car make a difference? or strut bars?

Thanks alot.. I really love the car but as a die hard bimmer fan myself.. I want the car to hug the road a lil bit.. I know its not a sports car but when going at freeway speeds you want some control...

Let me be the first to say drop. Lowering it will definitely improve the ride

CHeck out your tires. I change my wheels to the 18 inch optional GS430 wheels with good all season tires, it huggs the road very well.

The 3rd GEN is a much better vehicle. I love how it handles and the ride is little stiffer than the 2nd GEN. You can add lower springs or purchase the TEIN coilovers with the EDFC. It would improve your handling. Good luck with the GS.

Lowering springs with the right spring rate will help the floaty feel of the GS. If someone would offer an aftermarket shock to go with the spring, the characteristics of the ride would really improve dramatically.

I'd get coilovers and adjust them to your own liking (height and firmness).

Has anyone tried the new Tanabe coilovers yet?

I am thinking of getting them if they will do what I want i.e. lower
the car just the right amount to prevent problems with my fat
setup...

I agree, I know the 5 series is a much better handling car. But wit hthe reliability of lexus as well as the amenities, it cannot be beat. But if you lower it, you have to get new shocks right? It wont work with the factory suspension?

Then you loose out on the comfortable smooth ride.
