Rubbing on 20's?

Just wondering if any of you guys with 20's and lowered have rubbing issues? If so how did you fix them?

Hey Ttran, What Size Tires Are You Running???? Thanks

akim47 Jan 9, 2007 01:40 AM

i dont know what part of CA you are in...

if ur in socal, u can pay to get it done. Try shorline motoring...

www.shorelinemotoring.com

they aren't cheap, but they work on high end cars, and service is top notch... my philosophy is to do it right the first time...

otherwise you can rent

my friend works on a lot of cars, so he purchased the tool... works really well, he just did his s13...

ttran,
i was told that running 245/30 and 285/25 should save you from rubbing... just my $.02... That's what they recommended me when i purchased my rims/tires and lowering aggressively...

my 06 GS is slammed!!!!! with tein coilovers, and 20" iforged seneka's. I grinded the rear fenders with a sanding wheel. More towards the rear bumper to the center. It clears perfect now. The front sucks. All I can say is be sure you angle the car, then drive into the drive way with the wheels straight. Depending on the drive way, you might scratch yout front. I got a Wald kit, but with 20"s you'll clear. Mine car nips the from lip. But I had my front fender pulled out cause I had the wheel turned to the left as I went into a drive way. That sucked!!!!!

Have you determined where the rub is? What are the wheel specs?

okcfunky Jan 21, 2007 07:33 AM

245/35's rub. I've almost rubbed completely through the offset inside lip (like 1/2 inch inside from the exterior lip) and with just NF210's.

as others had asked, whats the offset and width of your wheels? if your offsets are way off, there is no amount of fender rolling that can help you.

You're prob just running the wrong size tires....With custom built wheels you SHOULD NOT have to grind away or cut anything. There should be a standard recommended fitment with the correct size tires to accomodate the plus sized wheels.

What offset do you run with the 20's?

nardeezy Jan 29, 2007 08:11 PM

My setup rubs just like everyone eles'e.

leestoy Jan 30, 2007 01:39 PM

I do not have any rubbing issues whatsoever.... I have 20x8.5 F running 245/30/20 and 20x10 R running 285/25/20 and I am aggressively lowered with coilovers... about 2-1/4" of lowering.....

It helps that you are running at OEM diameters. Not too much rubber though. ;)
