On the way to work today I almost *****. I look down and the gas gauge show empty and the range distance left to travel was at zero. nearest gas station was about six miles. Well I made it and the fillup was 16.42 gallons whereas the capacity is 18 gallons. Does the system alert you, other than a yellow light and "range" indicator. My old car, M45, the navigation would come on and tell you you are about to run out of gas and default to the nearest station. Has anyone gotten that low?

I got to zero on Monday with 1.5 miles to the station. Made it and put in 15.7 gallons. based on my old car even when the calculator says zero, you have 1 or so gallons in the tank. I have gotten no other indication but the light. I don't think there is a tone or statement from the system.

 

The reserve tank should be around 3 gallons. As planoag said, the yellow light is the only indication that you're running low on fuel.

 

My experience with my IS350 is that when the low fuel light comes on, you have apprx 3 gallons left in the tank. When your distance to travel range hits 0, you have less than 50 miles left before being empty. That said, with the advanced fuel injection system of the 2GR-FSE engine, I wouldn't monkey around with trying to drive until near empty, I usually look for gas as soon as that yellow light comes on . . .
