JDM Navi Questions?
Hi guys I was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions that I have about the JDM spec GS navigation system I have tried doing a search but I didnt find anything so I thought I would do a post, What Im trying to find out is would a Japanese spec GS350 play an English navi disc? Or does the whole operating system (computer) need to be changed to view the screen in English, Or is a simple swap of the disc's.
If so has anyone done this modification?
If not can it be done? And would it be expensive?
Also if its a "05" model which Navi disc is the best to run? As I have read in other parts of the forum that the "07" navi disc does not play.
Any help guys and is greatly appreciated.

Im not talking about a conversion, What I mean is a Japanese spec GS350 that has benn Imported from Japan,The main reason I ask these questions is because I am from Australia and It is alot cheaper to import a Lexus from Japan than to buy one here and we did not get the GS350 here also, Thats why I would like to know if it is possible for a car with a navigation system from Japan could display English with just the swap of the navi disk? or would the operating system need to be changed, Any info would really help guys Thanks.

If I am not mistaken, the NAV system on the JDM GS runs on a 30gb HDD. The NAV maps are all stored within the drive, so the usage of NAV DVDs are out of the question. Also, The JDM NAV system is bundled with G-link, which is an inseperable component of the NAV software and hardware. So, to keep this short, i don't think the nav will be compatible for the Australian market. The only solution I can think of is to replace the JDM head unit to one that isn't JDM. Hope this helps. And please feel free to PM me if you have further questions.
regards,
felix
