Default Dumb Question:

Hey all,

I have a second gen GS and had a rather stupid question but here goes: what advantages does the new GS430 have over the GS350 (the 303hp version)? From what I've read the 350 has more horsepower and faster acceleration (but less torque). Thoughts?

Not much. Advantages being that it's V8 and the suspension is different. Enough to justify the price difference? Probably not. Which is why it's almost certain to be replaced sooner or later.

Aside from a better sounding engine (got to love V8s) and the option to get the Active Stabilizer Suspension System, there's not much to differentiate the 350 and 430.

Although the 430 engine has been a great engine for Lexus, it is definitely showing its age. Bring on the GS460

The only difference will be that you'll visit your gas attendant more often with the 430 and get to catch up on gas price fluctuations faster.

I've had my GS 350 AWD less than a week and am all smiles. It is plenty peppy in regular mode, especially at higher RPMs. I put the switch in power mode and it screams. It lets the RPMs build higher before shifting. I recommend getting a radar detector if you keep in power mode. It's very easy to get over the speed limit in a hurry.

The 430 and 450H have the Active Stabilizer Suspension System as an option.
